• Has developed Powell Bail Bonding Inc into the oldest and largest Bonding Company in New Hanover County.
• Has served on numerous committees regarding regulations and policy changes for the improvement of both Professional and Surety Bondsmen throughout Our great state.
• Was a founding member of the North Carolina Bail Agents Association and served on the Board.
• Currently oversees the operations of all Powell Bail Bonding Inc. offices located in New Hanover, Pender, Duplin, Bladen, Columbus, Sampson, Onslow, and Brunswick Counties. His Attitude is we are here to assist you in your time of trouble.

Raul "Katt" Brewster, Manager - Wilmington Office

Raul S. Brewster, better known as "Katt", was born in the Bronx, NY. He has been in the bail bonding business for over 12 years. He enjoys meeting new people and helping them through difficult times. Raul taught Tae-Kwon-Do for 8 years, which was where he was introduced to the bonding business. One of his students was in the business and got him interested. Using the martial arts skills, he was able to act in several movies including Weeds with Nick Nolte, Silver Bullet, and teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I & II. In his free time he enjoys working out, shooting pool and hanging out with his children.

John Leonard, Manager - Wilmington Office

John Leonard is the longest running employee at Powell Bail Bonding, Mr. Leonard has been with the company for over 19 years. His expertise in the field is an asset to the team where he guides new hires in the right direction. With many years of bonding in his background, Mr. Leonard has built a strong and lasting reputation within the community. His background is in law enforcement as well as 8 plus years in the military. He enjoys sharing quality time with his family.

Cindy is a Wilmington Native. She has been in the bookkeeping business for over 15 years. She brings a high level of expertise to the Powell Bail Bonding company, her parent's business. In her free time, she loves spending time at the beach or with her dog.






Brenda Bryant,Office Manager-Main Office
Brenda has been with the company for 4 years. She enjoys helping others. She has 18 years of clerical experience and has just recently obtained her Master’s degree in Accounting. Brenda enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, fishing, and camping with her 5 children in her spare time.






Kathy Lee, Administration
Kathy has lived in the Wilmington area the last 27 years. She has been in the office administration field for a long time and enjoys working on computers, cooking, and bowling. she looks forward to helping you with all your bonding needs.







Laura Smitley, Administration
Laura was born and raised in the area. She has about 20 years experience in the clerical field. Laura really enjoys the challenges and the variety of people you meet in the bonding business.






Arthur Laboo, Administration
Arthur is a Wilmington native. He is a member of our "night crew" maintaining crucial office operations through the night as well as providing support for bondsmen in the surrounding counties giving us 24 hour 365 day availability to service the public .When not working Arthur does freelance videography and enjoys treasure hunting, internet radio and aviation related activities.




Sandra Blizzard, Administration
Sandy enjoys helping others. She also enjoys spending time with her family. Working in the bonding business has allowed Sandy to meet some interesting people.






Gene Benson, Bail Bondsman
Gene is from Warsaw, NC and works in the Duplin Co. Office. He has been with the company for over 6 years. Before working with Powell Bail Bonding, he was a police officer for the Warsaw Police Department for 5 years, Guilford Mills for over 18 years and a part owner of The Sign Shop. He has been married for over 27 years and has 4 children.






John Kuhn, Bail Bondsman
John Kuhn has been with the company for 6 years. He is married with 2 children and is originally from Fayetteville. There have been many newspaper articles and editorials written about John and his steadfast temperament and commitment to catching someone on the run! Anyone who meets John will quickly realize he is very charismatic with a wonderful personality and is ALWAYS on the phone!






Julie Leonard, Bail Bondsman
Julie is the Bride of John Leonard. She has been working with the company for 10 plus years as administrative assistant and a bonding agent. She is a Wilmington native, and spends her time providing a loving home for their 3 children.





Beth Lunsford, Bail Bondsman
Beth has worked for Powell Bail Bonding for 6 years. She is a Pender County native and works out of the Pender county Office. She grew up around the industry and with family in the bonding business she had support on her career choice.







Zack McGee, Bail Bondsman
Zack has been with Powell Bail Bonding for 4 years. He moved from Long Island, N.Y. and is excited about working with such a distinguished company.






Kelvin Miller, Bail Bondsman
Kelvin has been working with Powell Bail Bonding for a few years. To him, this is more than just a job, this is a family. Powell has taught him to be professional in business and other life skills necessary to be a successful agent. He is excited about his future with Powell Bail Bonding.






“Coach” Pridgen, Bail Bondsman
Coach Pridgen is a retired P.E. teacher and head girl’s basketball coach from Hoggard High School. He has been with the company for 4 years. A relative in the business got him started in the bonding industry. He is married with 3 children and very active in his church.

Tammy Tilghman, Manager
Tammy is a North Carolina native that has been with Powell Bail Bonding for 7 years. She services the Sampson County area, home of NFL great Willie Parker. In her free time, Tammy likes to work out, travel and hang out with her kids.







Jason Hearl, Bail Bondsman
Jason Hearl is one of our newest agents and comes to us from the law enforcement field and holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Originally from SC he moved to Wilmington in 2006 and has a background in auto and motorcycle sales as well as a long military career that included tours overseas and in the states. If you can name it Jason has probably been there.
Jason is a guy who is easy to talk with and can turn an embarrassing and uncomfortable experience into a tolerable one. His motto is that "not everyone who goes to jail is a bad person that is why pencils have erasers". Come and stop by to talk with Jason about your specific situation.


Jamie Boyd, Bail Bondsman
Jamie is an energetic guy who loves to work. He has been a bondsman for 2 years. Helping people is one of the many things Jamie does. In his free time he enjoys golfing and watching sports.

Angie was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. She has been a bail bondsman for the last 3 years. In her spare time she enjoys shopping, watching movies, eating at restaurants and spending time with her family.








MarcelL Anderson, Bail Bondsman
Marcel enjoys spending time with his family.  He also enjoys hunting, fishing and scuba diving.  Marcel covers the Bladen county area but can assist anywhere in North Carolina.

Kyle is from Columbus County. He is married with two kids. Kyle worked for 3 years with the Columbus County sheriff’s office. He enjoys being in the kitchen cooking and spending time with family and friends. Being a bail bondsman is the best job Kyle has ever had. Eddie Lewis, Bail Bondsman
Eddie was born and raised in Wilmington, NC. He spent most of his teen years singing and dancing in the popular area group "Instant Replay". The group is how he became friends and trained with Raul "Katt" Brewster.

Eddie understands that everyone makes mistakes and he enjoys helping those defendants who have "messed up" and found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is also a licensed REALTOR and hopes to own one of the largest agencies in the area.
